The defending champions have the majority of the young brigade for the upcoming PKL season 9. The team had a balanced starting seven last season which led Delhi to win their maiden PKL title.
Team management showed faith in the mixture of young and experienced players last season, and the presence of the veterans Ajay Thakur, Manjeet Chillar, Jeeva Kumar and the skipper Joginder Narwal boosted the confidence of the young guns to the next level.
The team will miss the presence of the senior players this season, as two of them (Manjeet & Jeeva) will be seen in the role of assistant coach in season 9 while Haryana Steelers bought Joginder in the auction and Ajay Thakur won’t be the part of season 9 due to personal reasons.
The team retained the Dabang Express Naveen Goyat and Vijay Malik under the elite retained player category for season 9.
RAIDERS
The team management surprisingly didn’t buy any raiders in the season 9 auction, as they have full confidence in their tremendous raiding trio of Naveen, Vijay and Ashu Malik who were retained by the team.
Although, the team have signed Suraj Panwar, Manjeet and Ashish Narwal under the NYP category who can support raiding well.
DEFENDERS
The team management focused more on the defenders in the auction and has included the likes of Amit Hooda, Sandeep Dhull, Vishal Lather, and Ravi Kumar into the squad for season 9.
It will be a homecoming for Sandeep Dhull and Vishal Lather in season 9 for Delhi. The defence department is looking quite stable and balanced this season. The experienced cover defender Anil Kumar was also retained via FBM.
ALL-ROUNDERS
The young gun from Maharashtra Tejas Patil along with the Iranian Reza Katooli was included in the squad for season 9.
Tejas Patil is a raiding all-rounder and can be seen as a backup plan for Naveen Kumar Goyat.
