The Pro Kabaddi League (also known as Vivo Pro Kabaddi due to sponsorship reasons), abbreviated as PKL, is an Indian men’s professional Kabaddi league. It premiered in 2014 and is currently broadcast on Star Sports. Season 8 has been pushed back due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The popularity of the Kabaddi tournament at the 2006 Asian Games influenced the formation of the league. The Indian Premier League influenced the format of the competition. The Pro Kabaddi League is run on a franchise model, and its inaugural season took place in 2014, with eight teams paying fees of up to US$250,000,000,000 to participate.

How does the Pro Kabaddi points table work?

In Pro Kabaddi, a win earns each team five points. If there is a tie, the teams split three points. If the defeat margin is equal to or less than seven points, the losing team receives one point. No points are awarded to the losing team if the margin of defeat exceeds seven points.

Season 8 of Pro Kabaddi will include 137 matches, including two eliminators, semi-finals, and the final. The tournament will be held in a two-round format, with each team playing 22 games in the league stages. The league’s top six teams will advance to the knockout rounds.

However, the bottom four qualifying teams will compete in the elimination round first. In the semi-finals, the top teams will encounter the top two qualifying teams. The winners of the semi-finals then will end up competing in the Pro Kabaddi final.
