Puneri Paltan is a Kabaddi squad owned by Insurekot Sports Pvt. Ltd., a Mumbai-based company that competes in the Pro Kabaddi League representing Pune, Maharashtra. The Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune serves as its home stadium. Puneri Paltan is a founding member of the Pro Kabaddi League, having a low success rate after finishing dead last in the first two seasons—2014 and 2015. Paltan learned from their failures during 2016 (January) season, when they made the playoffs for the first time in their history, placing third.

The squad narrowly missed the playoffs in the 2016 (June) season due to many ups and downs but made it the following year. The team’s form took another hit in Pro Kabaddi season 6, as they failed to make the playoffs. Insurekot Sports Pvt. Ltd. entered the Kabaddi industry by acquiring Puneri Paltan, the Pro Kabaddi League franchise in Pune. The firm wishes to increase awareness of Kabaddi’s rich tradition in India, hence promoting the sport throughout the country.

UP YODHA FIXTURES FOR PKL 8

Puneri Paltan’s Season 8 campaign will commence off against Dabang Delhi K.C. in Bengaluru on December 23 in search of their first Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) title.

The Pune franchise has recruited a solid roster for the eighth edition, including several heavyweights. Puneri Paltan has enlisted the help of several notable celebrities who were among the best performers in Season 7.

With players like Vishal Bhardwaj, Baldev Singh, and Sombir manning the defence, Pune has one of the greatest defensive units in the tournament.

The raiding side, on the other hand, has numerous superstars, including skipper Nitin Tomar, who is ready to lead the fight. Rahul Chaudhari, the ‘Showman,’ and Pankaj Mohite, a rising talent, will be there to support him.

Pune will be seeking to get their hands on the prized trophy after failing to qualify for the playoffs in the previous season under the experienced guidance of Coach Anup Kumar, who guided U Mumba to their inaugural title in Season 2.

Puneri Paltan’s Pro Kabaddi League 2021 schedule

Mashal Sports, the organizers of the eighth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League, released the schedule for the first half of the season on Wednesday. The Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Centre will organize the whole competition this season, with matches taking place behind closed doors.

Puneri Paltan is slated to face each of the 11 other Pro Kabaddi 2021 teams in the competition once during the first half of the season. They will appear in four fixtures in December 2021 and seven in January 2022.
